Andy Spade and his wife Kate, founders of the handbag empire Kate Spade and its men's offshoot Jack Spade, have transformed their beautiful 19th century Southampton residence into a showcase for their unique collection of art treasures. The house was originally the site of the Shinnecock Hills Summer School, a plein air painting academy run by William Merritt Chase, founder of Parsons.

Kelp
Here's a little peak at what I'm currently working on. This next print was inspired by my time spent on the beach during our recent trip to CA. While walking along the sandy shore you would often see kelp abandoned by the ocean's crashing waves. I love the unique shape and texture of this interesting plant. Come back and see the final result when I ink and print it!

Highlights from our Trip to California
Our time spent in California couldn't have been better! We enjoyed time with family and friends, feasted on fabulous food and wine, and explored fun new places.
:: Some Highlights ::
Spent some time in San Fran before we drove south...and of course stopped at In-N Out Burger!
Celebrated my cousin Laura's wedding at the
Church in the Forest and Monterey Peninsula Country Club
::
such a fun and beautiful wedding, CONGRATS Mike and Laura!!
Spent a day at Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur and later had dinner at Nepenthe
:: Ambrosia Burger = Nummers! ::
Enjoyed the view of the Lone Cypress in Pebble Beach
An afternoon of wine tasting at Hahn Winery and Paraiso Vineyards
Hiking at Soberanes Canyon in Big Sur :: loved seeing some redwoods!
Tide-pooling in Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach
:: Tim spotted a purple sea star bigger than his hand! ::
Ended our trip where it began :: enjoyed some time by the wharf and Ghirardelli square in SF
:: the sea salt caramel mocha I had at Ghirardelli was deliciously sinful :) ::
Tim and I had a fabulous time and hope we can go back sometime soon!!

Inspirational Artists :: Running the Numbers
I'm back! We had a fabulous time in California and can't wait to share some highlights from our trip. In the meantime, enjoy this Inspirational Artist post.
Chris Jordan is an artist based in Seattle, Washington who is best known for his explorations of mass consumption and waste. Cans Seurat is comprised of 106,000 aluminum cans in the form of George Seurat's A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte :: 106,000 being the number of cans used in the US every thirty seconds.

California Trip
My husband Tim and I are off to California for the next week to see family, some r&r, and most importantly :: share in the celebration of my cousin's wedding!! We leave super early tomorrow morning and will return next Thursday with some pictures and a California inspired print!

Inspirational Artists :: Bounce
Since we're leaving in two days for California, I thought this post would be a fun one.
As hundreds of thousands of colorful bouncy balls were released down San Francisco's hilly streets, Danish photographer Peter Funch was there to capture it all on film. Aren't his photos great? I think the perspective in a few of these is particularly awesome!

Fresh Ink :: Summers by the Lake
After many hours of carving all the intricacies of this block, I was really happy to see how well it turned out. I was originally going to print it in black but decided to mix a midnight blue instead. What do you think?
