Best.Day.Ever
Yesterday was a fantastic day for Wooden Spoon Editions!!! I started my day with dropping off some of my prints and journals at Paper Hat - a darling little art gallery/gift shop in south Minneapolis. Buzzing with excitement :: this is the first brick-and-mortar shop to carry my artwork! :: I met Greta, the creator and owner of Paper Hat. After chatting for a bit, she asked if I would be interested in being the Featured Artist from November 17th through the end of the year - I of course said yes!! :)
Since leaving the shop, I've been overwhelmed with new print ideas! It's a bit difficult thinking of winter themed images when it's in the 90's, humid, and sunny.....but, no complaining allowed....I've just been given an amazing opportunity!
The wheels are spinning, lists are being made, timelines being drafted...and I can't wait!

Inky Fingers
There has been lots of printing happening here lately! I had to print a few more Moleskines to fulfill the 'order' that will be dropped off at Paper Hat next week. Then, since I already had some brown ink mixed up and rolled out....I continued for a few more hours and printed some more paddle prints and notecards!
Here's a glimpse at how the notecards turned out. I'm really happy with them and will be adding them to my shop next week!
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday - Tim and I had friends over for a barbecue and ice cream sundaes. Afterwards we walked along the river to view the fireworks over Minneapolis' historic stone arch bridge. What did you do for the fourth?

Inspirational Artist :: Banana Tattoo
Pushpins + Bananas = a different kind of art.
For multimedia artist Phil Hansen, one of his newest ventures is using pushpins to pierce the skin of a banana which causes the fruit to become exposed to air and turn brown. These pin pricks are done similar to the method of pointillism and eventually create an image.
Just when you thought you'd seen it all... :)

Fresh Ink :: Life by the Lake
Another new print was added to the shop last week! Printed from a block I carved while I was in college, it also was included as part of my senior art exhibition.
This print was inspired by my love for *life by the lake* in Minnesota's north country and its vast expanse of lakes, streams, and woods along the Canadian border. For as long as I can remember, I've traveled to the northwoods of Minnesota with family. Enjoying long lazy days by waters edge, picking blueberries, island picnics, canoeing, etc. - it's my favorite slice of summer!
