Fresh Ink :: Winter Berries

Yesterday was a very successful printing day! I printed more paddle prints, as well as a few paddle Moleskine Journals. I finished the day by printing the berry branches I recently finished carving. I can't wait for the ink to dry so I can go back and add a touch of red to each berry!

Drawing Rome from Memory

This video is AMAZING! Stephen Wiltshire is an architectural artist who's known for his ability to draw a landscape after seeing it just once. See it to believe it!

Berry Branch

I'm almost done carving my next print :: just have to carve out the center of each berry....which means straining focus and cramped fingers by the end of today! It'll be worth it though, I'm excited to see how this one will print!

Snow + Flake

I finally had enough time last evening to do printing of my snowflakes part deux. While I had the white ink rolled out I printed another feather moleskin journal as well :: it was a nice and  productive little evening!

They Draw and Cook

I love browsing through the different yummy recipes and lovely illustrations on They Draw and Cook's website. The illustrated recipes are submitted by professional illustrators, practicing artists, passionate doodlers, and others who are have recently begun to draw.
Their cookbook is on my x-mas list! :)

Inspirational Artists :: Living Portraits

This is seriously creative!
American installation artist, Alexa Meade, uses paint on three-dimensional surfaces as part of a series that encourages viewers to experience and interpret spatial relationships in a completely different manner. Instead of using paint to create portraits on canvas, Meade applies paints on her subjects and makes them appear to be a part of a painting.

SOFA

This weekend is the 18th Annual Sculpture Objects and Functional Art Fair :: otherwise known as SOFA, in Chicago, Il. It's the largest and longest continually running international gallery-based art fair. Located at Navy Pier's Festival Hall, the exhibit runs Friday, November 4th - Sunday, November 6th.
The last time I went to SOFA was a few years ago and would love to go back some day. If you happen to be in the Chicago area this weekend I encourage you to stop by Navy Pier and check it out!

Art-Cum-Furniture

Here's an interesting idea I saw the other day on Anthropologie's website. They took a painted panel and inset it into linen as a covering for a headboard. A kind of art-cum-furniture. I think it's an interesting idea :: not something I'm feeling I absolutely must have...but kind of cool nevertheless! :) What do you think of this look?

Van Gogh Gets Tilt-Shifted

I think this is simply amazing...
After seeing the effects of tilt-shift photography, art student Serena Malyon decided to simulate the same effects on Van Gogh's famous paintings using Photoshop. By manipulating the focus and light, (nothing in the paintings were changed, added, or removed) it makes us look at Van Gogh's paintings in a completely different way.
