Through the Woods

I'm busy working on a new print today. This one will be a 2 block, 3 color print when it's all done! It's going to be a bit of a time suck, but worth it in the end. Here's a a little glimpse of a part of the sketch I did for one of the blocks.
Check back soon for more progress!

Fresh Ink :: Life by the Lake

Another new print was added to the shop last week! Printed from a block I carved while I was in college, it also was included as part of my senior art exhibition.
This print was inspired by my love for *life by the lake* in Minnesota's north country and its vast expanse of lakes, streams, and woods along the Canadian border. For as long as I can remember, I've traveled to the northwoods of Minnesota with family. Enjoying long lazy days by waters edge, picking blueberries, island picnics, canoeing, etc. - it's my favorite slice of summer!

Berry Branch

I'm almost done carving my next print :: just have to carve out the center of each berry....which means straining focus and cramped fingers by the end of today! It'll be worth it though, I'm excited to see how this one will print!

Fresh Ink :: Birch

I just finished printing the birch trees :: FINALLY!
They were tricky to print since so much of the block had been carved away - leaving not much left for the paper to "grab onto." To be honest, I'm glad these trees are finally done...they took way longer to complete and were a bit finicky with all the fine lines and details.
Hope you have an enjoyable weekend!

Fresh Ink :: At Woods Edge

After hours of back wrenching, finger cramping detail carving work, I was nervous that this print wouldn't turn out the way I envisioned. Luckily, all that time payed off and I'm really happy with how this one turned out.
I hope you have a happy holiday weekend!

Hand-mixed using yellow and blue oil-based ink

Add a little more blue to make it a touch darker

Roll it out with my brayer

Carefully roll the ink evenly across the block

After burnishing the print by hand with my wooden spoon...  :)
