Fresh Ink :: Antlers

Last night I printed quite a few of the next print to be apart of my White Ink Limited Collection! I am really happy with the finished print as well as the color of the handmade paper. The exact hue of the paper is so tricky to capture, so, in a word...bordeaux.
Hope you have a lovely weekend!
I'm looking forward to printing and carving a couple new designs, as well as having a dear friend of mine from college and her husband stay with us while they're in the Twin Cities for a wedding. :)
+ + + This is the same friend that I created this special print for her little babe's nursery.

Antler

I've been busily creating some new designs - here's one of my latest! I'm pretty excited about this one. I picked up a bordeaux colored paper that I will use to print these antlers on using white ink. Come back soon to see how it turns out!

Fresh Ink :: Tree

I just finished printing these trees today, and am pretty happy with them! It's always a bit more difficult hand printing a larger surface. I tried varying the pressure when burnishing to create some lighter and darker areas within each  print.
Hanging on their sides while drying...
Have a great weekend!

Printing Soon!

A quick peek of my progress on the ladybugs...they will be ready to print soon!

Oh So Careful

This ladybug is almost complete! I just have to carve out what will be red on the wings. It's tricky getting the antennea and legs as thin as I'm wanting :: similar to when I carved the maidenhair fern
Lots of little breaks are needed so I don't cut too far!

Fresh Ink :: A Tale of Two Trees

I printed a new moleskine design over the weekend, what do you think?
Hope you have a happy week!

Fresh Ink :: Tannenbaum

I'm really happy with how this little tree printed! I'll be using these little guys as gift tags for the holidays, but will maybe print them on other things in the near future....possibly a little moleskine?
Hope you're having a good week!

Berry Branch

I'm almost done carving my next print :: just have to carve out the center of each berry....which means straining focus and cramped fingers by the end of today! It'll be worth it though, I'm excited to see how this one will print!

Fresh Ink :: Finely Feathered

I just finished printing on a Moleskin journal for the first time! I was curious to see how the ink would transfer to the cover of the journal since it's very different than the paper I typically print on.
The feather design was a fun one to do, I wanted them to appear to be softly floating down the cover.

Getting a descent photo of this was difficult - I apologize for the weird shadow at the top

Float

Just finished carving my next print! Stay tuned to see the final result! :)

Fresh Ink :: Birch

I just finished printing the birch trees :: FINALLY!
They were tricky to print since so much of the block had been carved away - leaving not much left for the paper to "grab onto." To be honest, I'm glad these trees are finally done...they took way longer to complete and were a bit finicky with all the fine lines and details.
Hope you have an enjoyable weekend!

North Shore Woods

I finished carving two of the birch trees for my next print last night! The detail and size are causing it take a bit longer to complete, but I'm really happy with how it's coming along and am getting excited to ink and print it when it's done!

Fresh Ink :: l'oliva with gouache

I just finished adding gouache to the leaves and olives and am very happy with how it turned out! I mentioned in my post last Friday that I was both excited and nervous to try another technique....but I'm so glad I did! I really like the varying shades in the olives I was able to achieve by adding more or less water to the gouache.
What do you think? Would you like to see more prints done this way in the future?

Olive Progress So Far

Here's a glimpse at how my olive block carving is coming along so far. Next step is carefully carving out the leaves and olives. Check back to see it printed in the next day or two!
